Recieved his letter and was glad he enjoyed "Revelation".I sent it to Reedy, St. Louis Mirror. Mckenna Has Not paid since the last statement.We still have a suit against him with the Supreme Court.Trail is in November. Reguards to Mrs. Markham and Miss Morgan.

California poet. Raised near Vacaville, became a schoolteacher in Coloma and later in Oakland. Became famous overnight with publication of "The Man with a Hoe," his protest against brutalization of labor, in "San Francisco Examiner" (January 15, 1899). Following this success Markham moved to New York where he scored another triumph with "Lincoln and Other Poems" (1901). He became a well-known reader of his own poems and lecturer of idealistic views, but his creative output for remainder of life ...
